Voting & Political Involvement

When it comes to the question about whether a person, more specifically a christian should vote, whether they don't like any of the candidates or the choices. The answers to why a person should vote are actually written in the Bible.

Voting isn't required by law, is it?

Romans 13:1-2

1Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

But hasn't the government made it an option for us to vote?

Matthew 5:14-16

14"You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

But why would anyone actually not want to voice they opinion or not let their light shine before all men and women alike?
